Note to Visitors: The information contained on this web site is based upon personal experience. It is not intended nor should it be construed as a substitute for consulting with your physician. All matters regarding your health require medical supervision.

The following page details the growing collection of books in what I've come to call my support library. Each book includes the title, the author and the ISBN. If the book is available for purchase online, a link to the appropriate web site is provided. If the book isn't available online, a telephone number is included to contact the organization from which it is available.

Note: The majority of the links on this page refer to www.amazon.com. I don't work for Amazon nor do  I receive any kickbacks from them. I'm just a very satisfied customer. The book That's Unacceptable is available for order at Amazon. However after you place the item in your Shopping Cart and proceed to checkout, you are informed it will need to be special ordered. Amazon tells you up front this process will take about 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks has elapsed, you will then be informed they were unable to obtain the book. I would recommend you do not order the book through Amazon but use the resource noted below.

Books I've Already Read

I've included ratings for each book listed below. These ratings are personal opinions based primarily on how inspirational I found the book to be and/or how much useful information I felt it contained.  A five or four star rating qualifies as a must-buy book for anyone facing a brain tumor diagnosis or any other chronic illness. A three star rating is a book that falls into the take-it or leave-it category. A two star book is one I didn't find very useful and would not recommend. Any book that caused me great pain to finish (there's a quirk in my personality that makes me finish each book I start) gets one star.

An important thing to remember when reading a book on any subject matter related to your illness is to keep the good parts and throw away the bad. If you find a chapter, paragraph, sentence or phrase in any book that creates negative thoughts or feelings for you, don't hold on to them. Retain only the words which create positive thoughts and feelings and throw the rest away.

Medical Textbooks

The following book is a medical textbook covering every topic regarding gliomas such as  neurosurgery, neuro-imaging, neuro-oncology, radiation therapy...the list goes on and on. The cost can be prohibitive, which is why I had my doctor borrow it from the local medical library. I had this book in my possession for a couple of months, but it was during a period of time where I didn't feel much like reading. However, based on just the chapter names and the comments of other BT survivors who've read sections of it, I plan to borrow it again in the future.

The Gliomas
